The 2025 St David Marist Fasken Time Cricket Festival ended in a flury of big performances on Sunday. There were four results in the six games played, and seven overall for the two rounds. That’s the most in the nine years of the event, showing that the coaches and captains are getting to grips with the two-day format.

The second round of two-day games at the St David’s Marist Inanda Fasken Time Cricket Festival got going on Saturday, and it was more of the same – domination of bat over ball. There were three hundreds and 14 fifties scored on the day, and four four-wicket hauls.

The first round of two-day matches at the St David’s Marist Inanda Fasken Time 

Cricket Festival produced three wins and three draws, not a bad return, given that the format is different and that the conditions favoured the batsmen in a big way, making for big scores – there were four hundreds and eight half centuries on the day – and big wicket hauls were rare.

Day one of the St David’s Marist Fasken Time cricket festival is done and dusted and, as expected, the batsmen had the upper hand on the flat pitches and dry outfields. There were three hundreds and 11 50s notched up on the day. St David’s captain, Jason Rowles, carried on from where he left off last year. He was unbeaten on 116 overnight agaiinst Waterkloof. The other centuries were from Johan Feuth (100 not out for Waterkloof vs St David’s), and Andrew Sobiech (109 for St Andew’s vs Jeppe).

The highlight of the breakfast was guest speaker and South African Cricketing legend, Allan Donald, who shared stories, insights and advice with the next generation of South African cricketers.

SDMI NEDBANK CHALLENGE CUP DAY 2 WRAP-UP

The 2025 St David’s Marist Inanda Nedbank Challenge Cup will go to a local team after the last remaining out-of-town sides – Hilton and Brebner – were knocked out by St David’s Marist Inanda and King Edward VII School, respectively, in the quarter finals on Saturday.
