Summer Sports Festival Day 4 Newsletter
The 2025 St David’s Summer Festival has come and gone and despite some unseasonably cold and rainy weather on the Highveld, it all came to a glorious conclusion on Sunday with a thrilling (rain-interrupted) under-18 final of the Fasken Inanda Hoops basketball tournament.
As if organising a four day-event across three sporting codes, involving close to 1000 players and over 100 officials wasn’t difficult enough, Saturday dawned cold and misty, with intermittent rain throughout the day, and Sunday’s final basketball game was suspended due to a thunderstorm, with just four minutes remaining on the clock.

Rivonia Rangers won the Cricket Company St David’s T10 tournament, beating the Temba Bavuma Tigers by 16 runs in the final on Saturday.
St Stithians won the Inanda Cup U14 water polo tournament, beating St David’s Marist 2-1 in a thrilling final on Saturday. The game was a nail-biter, won in the final minute. Pretoria Boys High took the bronze medals after beating St John’s 4-3 in the playoff game.

The Cricket Company St Savid’s T10 tournament got underway on Saturday, with the seven teams playing three games each in an intense day of cricket.
At the end of it two teams, Temba Bavuma Tigers and Rivonia Rangers, came away with three wins out of three.

The 2025 St David’s Marist Inanda Summer Sports Festival kicked off in blistering heat on Thursday with 40 under-15 and under-18 basketball teams playing their opening preliminary pool games in the Fasken Inanda Hoops Challenge Tournament. The 10 under-12 teams that are participating will get going on Friday.

The Independent Schools October mid-term break is synonymous with the St David’s Marist Inanda Summer Sports Festival. It is massive gathering of school sportsmen, participating in three summer codes: basketball, water polo and cricket.

The 2025 St David Marist Fasken Time Cricket Festival ended in a flury of big performances on Sunday. There were four results in the six games played, and seven overall for the two rounds. That’s the most in the nine years of the event, showing that the coaches and captains are getting to grips with the two-day format.

The second round of two-day games at the St David’s Marist Inanda Fasken Time Cricket Festival got going on Saturday, and it was more of the same – domination of bat over ball. There were three hundreds and 14 fifties scored on the day, and four four-wicket hauls.
