St David's Marist Inanda Challenge Cup 2026

It is my pleasure to welcome all players, coaches, managers, referees, parents and supporters to the 2026 St David's Marist Inanda Challenge Cup.

What began in 2003 as a single Under 19 tournament has grown into a festival of schoolboy football that now brings together fifty teams across four sections. While the tournament has expanded considerably over the years, its purpose has remained unchanged: to provide young footballers with the opportunity to enjoy meaningful competition in an environment that celebrates the very best traditions of school sport.

We are privileged to welcome schools from across the country, each with its own proud history and football culture. We hope that every player leaves having enjoyed the challenge of competing against quality opposition, having formed new friendships, and having created lasting memories with teammates.

While every team will naturally strive to perform at its best, we hope that the tournament will be remembered not only for its results, but also for the manner in which the game is played. Respect for opponents, referees and teammates, humility in victory, dignity in defeat and an unwavering commitment to fair play are values that remain at the heart of schoolboy sport. We encourage everyone—players, coaches and spectators alike—to contribute positively to the atmosphere throughout the weekend.

The Challenge Cup has always sought to provide opportunities for boys of differing ages and abilities to participate. Whether competing for the tournament title, enjoying festival football, or taking part in one of the younger age-group sections, every player has an important role in making this weekend a success. We hope that each boy embraces the opportunity to play with commitment, enthusiasm and enjoyment.

Hosting an event of this scale is only possible through the dedication of many people. My sincere thanks go to the participating schools, our referees, tournament staff, sponsors and the many members of the St David's Marist Inanda community whose support makes this event possible.

To everyone joining us this weekend, thank you for being part of the 22nd edition of the St David's Marist Inanda Challenge Cup. We wish every team an enjoyable, rewarding and memorable tournament, and we look forward to witnessing football played in the finest spirit of schoolboy sport.
