St David's Marist Inanda Plays Rugby at Four Easter Festivals

9 Apr 2026

St David's Marist Inanda had teams across all age groups playing over the Easter Festival period.

Our Prep school boys proudly represented St David’s at the St John’s Easter Rugby Festival. After four matches, they won 3 closely contested games and were well tested by a strong side from the Eastern Cape.

The u14 and u15's were at Michaelhouse in the KZN Midlands where they played against the hosts and teams from Zimbabwe and KZN, respectively. They gave a good account of themselves and while the score lines of some of the games were not in our favour they certainly gave it their best.

The u16's played at the Jeppe Festival where they were exposed to two teams from the Eastern Cape (Hoerskool Brandwag and Graeme College) who as all EC sides do played with verve and vigour. The former gave the u16 group a real challenge in their first game winning strongly while the latter also beat us in the second game where the scoreline was closer and hard fought.

The 2nd XV played at the St Dunstan's Festival facing three opponents over the weekend. This format is always far more challenging than the now more formalized two weekend fixtures for Festivals. They were up against other school's first XV's and won two out of their three fixtures. This bodes well for the next part of the season post the April holidays and more than a few of this group will be challenging for a 1st XV spot should these performances continue.

The 1st XV was at the St John's Festival. In the first fixture, Kingswood College taught us lessons in simplicity, accuracy and finishing while we as a team were off the pace in more than a few areas, with lessons learnt. In the second fixture, Hoerskool Randburg were opponents that did not go away, taking their opportunities and negating our attacking play. The scoreline was close with the St David's team coming out ahead after fighting back at the end of the game.
