St David's Hosts Fantastic isiZulu Public Speaking Competition
"Our isiZulu Department was honoured to host the isiZulu Public Speaking Competition at our Sandton Campus, welcoming participation from over ten schools. It was truly inspiring to witness the passion and dedication of young people, all united by their love for the language and their willingness to express themselves with confidence and pride.
Public speaking competitions extend far beyond the classroom; they serve as meaningful platforms for developing confident, articulate and courageous young voices. Through preparation and delivery, learners cultivate self-belief, sharpen their critical thinking and learn to communicate their ideas with clarity and purpose.
Moreover, these competitions play a significant role in revitalising and celebrating African languages, empowering young people in South Africa to embrace, preserve, and elevate their linguistic heritage. In doing so, they foster not only academic growth, but also a deeper sense of identity, cultural awareness and leadership among the next generation." - Nontando Gumede, Head of Subject: isiZulu
