Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe and Guests from the Motsepe Foundation visit the Alexandra Campus

22 May 2026

St David’s Marist Inanda was privileged to welcome Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe and her son, Kabelo Motsepe, to the St David’s Marist Inanda Alexandra Campus on Friday, 22 May 2026, at the invitation of Headmaster Lewis Manthata.

Dr Precious Moloi-Motsepe is a qualified medical doctor, philanthropist, businesswoman, and Chancellor of the University of Cape Town. She is also the co-founder and CEO of the Motsepe Foundation, which works extensively across South Africa and the African continent to improve the living conditions of poor and marginalised communities, support nation-building initiatives, and contribute towards creating a better future for South Africa, Africa, and the world. The Foundation also focuses on developing sustainable initiatives that empower beneficiaries to become self-sufficient and independent.

Addressing the boys, Dr Moloi-Motsepe shared her personal journey from growing up in Soweto as a young girl determined not to allow her circumstances to define her future, to graduating from the University of the Witwatersrand as a medical doctor, becoming a proud mother and ultimately becoming a successful businesswoman, philanthropist, and change-maker.

She generously shared her insights on success, encouraging the boys to live disciplined lives, passionately stating that “discipline eats talent for breakfast.” She urged them to dream boldly and set ambitious goals, while applying discipline, hard work, and careful planning in pursuit of those dreams. She also cautioned against the many distractions that can derail one’s ambitions.

Dr Moloi-Motsepe further challenged the boys to believe in the transformative power of education, to have confidence in themselves, and to live lives marked by purpose and intention. Her own life stands as powerful testimony to these values and to the impact they can have.

Dr Moloi-Motsepe was joined by Mr Mampe Magampa and Mr Thabiso Vilikazi from the Motsepe Foundation. Mr Magampa serves as the Foundation’s Stakeholder Relationship Manager.

St David’s Marist Inanda extends its sincere thanks to Dr Moloi-Motsepe and the other guests for their visit. The school looks forward to strengthening its relationship with the Motsepe Foundation as both organisations continue striving to make a meaningful impact on the lives of those they serve, and on the future of our country and continent.
