Team St David's – Inanda Pandas
Team St David’s Inanda Pandas was launched in 2018 as a banner for the St David’s community to gather under, to take part in group events in support of the St David’s Marist Foundation.
Since 2018 our fantastic Team St David's Inanda Pandas have raised just over R100 000 for the Bursary Fund.
Ride Joburg 2026 Sunday 22 November – invitation to join the Team St David’s Inanda Pandas Ride for a Purpose Team!
We are delighted to announce that the Team St David’s Inanda Pandas Ride for a Purpose Team (St David’s Marist Foundation registration – in support of St David’s Bursary funds) will ride out again this year! The team first gathered for the 2018 Ride Joburg Cycle Challenge and has had a further three Ride Joburg outings since then, raising a total of R100 000 to date.
Who can join the Team?
Parents, Old Boys, Staff, College boys, friends and family – anyone who wishes to support! Individual participants must be 15 years or older by the date of the event (22 November 2026). Tandem participants riding with an adult must be 9 years or older by the date of the event.
Who does the Team ride in support of?
Team rider can choose to ride in support of the Fr Bernard Brewer SJ Bursary Fund or the Old Boys’ Bursary Fund, or both. A fundraising support kit will be shared with team members to share with their supporters as to how to donate in support of their ride, with the aim of each team member being to raise R2000.

(Entry fees are for rider’s own account – as part of a Ride for a Purpose Team riders receive a preferential starting time with the Team, but may select to keep their own starting time if they have an earlier seeding)

Inanda Pandas Historical Background
In November 2018 41 St David’s riders (parents, boys, staff, past parents, old boys, and family and friends) cycled the 947 Cycle Challenge as a St David’s Marist Foundation charity team “Ride for a Purpose” entry, and raised just over R50 000. In November 2019 29 Team St David’s “Inanda Pandas” took part in the Discovery 947 Ride Joburg ride and raised a further R50 000 for the St David’s Marist Foundation Bursary Fund.
In June 2020 St David’s staff launched a Champagnat Day run, which was taken forward on a monthly basis for the whole St David's community for the remainder of 2020 (first weekend of each month) under the Team St David’s banner.
On Sunday 21 November 2021 St David's dad Alvin Chawasema rode his first-ever 947 Ride Joburg Cycle Challenge, and rode it in support of the St David's Marist Foundation Bursary Fund raising R2 800 for the Foundation. In 2022 24 Team St David's Inanda Pandas rode the Virgin Active 947 Ride Joburg on Sunday 19 November, raising R1000. The Team included 10 Prep and College Boys, Old Boys, Parents and St David's Staff.
