Be a Star this Christmas - Christmas Giving 2017
2017 marked the fourth year of the annual St David’s Marist Foundation Christmas Giving Campaign – an initiative through which donors give a Christmas gift of a different kind - one which will have the most profound impact on the lives of young boys who ordinarily would not have access to the unique opportunity of a Marist education, due to family or social circumstances.
Huge thanks to our donors who supported the 2017 Christmas Giving Campaign - donations and pledges of just over R103 000 were received. This brings the total contributions to the Christmas Giving campaign over the past four years to just under R300 000.
Through the generous gifts of our extended St David’s Marist Inanda community, we have once again supported 13 boys through the St David’s Marist Foundation this year. When these boys matriculatethey will take their place as Marist Alumni in the ‘big world’ and we have no doubt that they will make their mark and pay forward to society the gift they have received from you. It is a privilege and an honour to watch these young men grow and mature into fine young Marist men.
Montagne Day 2017 (St David's Boys' Pledges)
On Friday 27 October 2017 St David's celebrated Montagne Day, with 2017 being the 201st Anniversary of the day on which St Marcellin visited the dying Jean-Baptiste Montagne, a visit that sparked his vocation in founding a teaching order.
Sincere thanks to all the St David's boys for their touching and entertaining Marist Pledge slips received (these were taken to the Altar during Combined Montagne Day Mass) and to the 200 families and boys who made donation pledges - R28 000 was raised towards the Foundation's Bursary Programme. The contributions of the boys will be listed under their Class Year Circles and will appear in the Foundation's 2017 Annual Report. Between 2016 and 2017 the Class Year Circles have raised a combined total of R98 450.
